Using up the Rail-Road Ties

The stack of railroad ties I moved was LARGE.  Final count yielded 32 full length ties, and a selection of short ones.

Instead of paying to get rid of them (demo waste at the dump) we decided to use them up.  The result alleviated 3 problems.  We dont have to dispose of them, them serve as a great landscaping alternative to the slop I had to deal with, and it provides a LOT more garden space.

I used 1/2 rebar spikes to hold pin the ties together, and we left a path on the south portion to allow people access, and wheel barrel access.  We used nearly 6 yards of top soil and 1 yard of compost to fill these new garden beds.  Next up is to bring in gravel for the walkways.
