Work Bench Page 1
My plans for the getting the excavator to dig the utility trench fell through. So I started on another project to keep me busy. The large workbench that will occupy the south end of the garage.
I picked up two exterior steel door blanks from work a while back to serve as workbench tops, and the rest will be building primarily with pine and paneling.
The entire thing will be built like a set of cabinets. Gorilla Glued and nailed, sanded and finished. Right now I am uncertain as to how I will finish them. Stained and sealed in a poly would look really good, but Im not so sure it would be appropriate for the garage/shop setting! The other option is to sand and fill everything, and paint it.
Starting with a rough set of plans, and a selection of hand picked 1x4 and 1x6 pine boards, I went to work on the first work bench base. There will be two of these, as well as a shorter base that will fit between the two to serve as a chop saw station.
