On the Interior

Done hanging OSB and Sheetrock.  On with mud and tape!

I am done with hanging OSB and sheetrock, and have started mudding and taping the sheetrock.  Getting there!!!  There is a LOT of mudding to get done though.  One huge wall, and the entire ceiling.  The joints and screw holes on the OSB will be caulked prior to painting.

I also designed and built the attic access panel.  The access is a standardized 22 1/2" x 30" opening, but that is the only "standard" part of it.  The door itself is constructed of 1x4 pine, faced with 5x8 sheetrock, insulated, and backed with 7/16 OSB.  So the entire door is a sealed, lightweight box.  It is also hinged and tied off to a rope and pulley system, so the door can be opened and closed while standing inside the garage.  No need to fuss with the door when trying to get into the attic!
