Pouring the Footings
Fun day today. An early start playing in the mud.
Having such large footings (this pour required nearly 5 yards), and such a deep ditch (more than 4 feet in some places) required a Concrete boom truck. Expensive, but well worth it. The entire pour this morning took less than 20 minutes. The boom truck took longer than that simply prepping.
The boom truck showed up 15 minutes early, got into position, unfolded, and cleaned out his lines. Then the cement truck showed up and we were rolling. We filled the forms and rough floated the mud.
The same afternoon I had some of the foundation wall block delivered from my work. 2 pallets of 8x8x16 standard hollow block, 1 and a half 8x8x16 beam blocks, and a few bags of mortar mix to get us started.
