Meter Base and Load Center
Ive done a good deal of wiring and electrical work, but this is the first time I have ever installed a new service. Running the 4/0 wire was quite entertaining! That wire nearly kicked my butt, running it from the load center, thru the LB, and into the meter box.
Anywho.... it is done, and the service is nearly ready to have the power switched over.
The Load Center was installed, conduit run and finished. Meter base was installed, conduit run and finished, and the 4/0 aluminum wire was run between the two. The conductors for the house were also connected to the load center, using a 125A breaker.
The load center is using TWO grounds. The primary being a stranded copper wire to the UFER GROUND (full length of rebar installed in the slab/footing. The secondary ground is a solid copper wire to a grounding rod. A grounding rod that will be buried when the ditch is back-filled.
The last two photos show the existing panel in the house. It needs a bit of attention as far as organization goes, and I have still yet to label a couple of "mystery" circuits.
Today I ran the ground wire from the old service entrance meter base to this panel. That required removing a bit of sheetrock. No problem, as this entire room needs to be re-taped, textured, and painted!
Currently it has a bonded panel. Before the big switch is thrown, providing the house panel with power, the grounding screw in the panel must be removed.
