Backfilling the garage

With the stem-wall poured and cured, I went to town on backfilling the garage, and starting prep for the slab pour.  I rented a skid-steer from work again and had 20 yards of rock (3/4 minus crushed) delivered to serve as the compacted bed for the slab.

I worked late Friday evening to get the large pile of dirt that was left in the garage flattened and smoothed to grade, then started loading the gravel bed on top of it.

The entire gravel bed is roughly 8 inches thick.  It was smoothed by hand with Alex' help, and compacted using a plate compactor.

After the entire thing was smoothed and compacted, we painted the layout for the 2-post lift pads, as well as shallow ditches to serve as additional slab reinforcements.

Oh... and we also had some unexpected visitors this morning....

They were inspecting the new wall and gravel.  I wonder where our "supervisor" is???
